What can beat a freshly made home style cinnamon rolls? They are very simple and easy to make and they taste a lot better than the store-bought ones.
Prep time:1hour 30 min
Bake time:20 min
Ready in: 2 hours
Serving size:10 rolls
Ingredients:
For Dough:
Lukewarm water: 1/2 cup
All-purpose flour: 2 1/2 cup
Unsalted butter: 1/4 cup
Dry yeast: 1 1/2 tsp
Whole Milk: 1/2 cup
Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup
Salt: 1/4 tsp
Large egg: 1
For Filling:
Unsalted Butter:2 tbs
Granulated Sugar: 2 tbsp
Ground Cinnamon:1 tbsp
For Glaze:
Powdered sugar:1/2 cup
Butter milk:2 tsp
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a medium bowl add lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast(I have used Red Star Active Dry Yeast). Set it aside for about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Mix all-purpose flour, salt, sugar to the yeast mixture and knead until soft. In a medium bowl grease oil and place the dough to rise for about 1 hour.
- Meanwhile prepare the filling by adding all the ingredients (butter, sugar, cinnamon) to make a coarse mixture.
- Remove the dough gently on a flour-dusted surface and roll it to make a rectangle with a half-inch thick around the border. Spread the cinnamon mixture on the dough leaving a little room on the edge to brush milk around.
- Fold the edges gently to make a roll and cut into desired sizes around 9-10. Place the rolled cut dough in a cookie sheet and cover it for 1/2 an hour to rise again.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Once the dough rises, place it in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. If the toothpick inserted inside comes out clean means it’s done. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
Mix the confectioner sugar and buttermilk and drizzle it over the cinnamon rolls.
Enjoy your cinnamon roll!
